A couple weeks ago… a friend I hadn’t seen since high school surprised me with a visit. And that wasn’t the only surprise. She asked me where she could find a good sex shop. Where she lives now, there isn’t anything around, so she orders everything online. I’ll be honest. I knew the name of a few “female friendly” shops in my city, but I’d never been. I like the anonymity of shopping online, and outside the bedroom I’m a bit shy. Well…
…that didn’t last long. We spent the first night of her visit up half the night like we used to in high school – talking about men! The experiences – good and bad – we’ve had since we last saw each other. There was a lot to catch up on. We also browsed through the stock of a local sex shop that we would visit the next day. It was overwhelming… usually when I shop online I know exactly what I’m looking for but my friend is recently out of a sex-less long-term relationship and is curious about everything!

We went down to the sex store, a small shop with a curtain drawn in front for customer’s privacy. Although I live in a big city, I’m not sure if I’d want to see certain acqaintances watching me hold up a dildo on a sunny afternoon. Everything was well organized by product – erotic books, movies, lubricants, massage oils, dildos, vibrators, restraints, costumes, etc. It was nice to actually touch some of the products I had only seen online before.
Another great thing about having a good sex shop nearby is that the sales people are at the ready for any question imaginable… and believe me, my friend had some doozies! It was a fun visit. We spent over an hour looking at the merchandise, learning more, and having more than a few laughs. Because it was a small shop though, they were sold out of a couple of things we were interested in buying. Rarely do you find online stores sold out as they ship from huge warehouses.
We racked up quite a bill and were excited to get back to my place to investigate our goods.
