We hear so much about men who have a thing for younger women. Maybe it makes them feel like they’re still young. Let’s face it, the heights of fertility and attractiveness happen earlier in life. This makes younger women sexy. Maybe it’s just that older women, sick of a half a lifetime worth of men’s antics in the dating game, tend to have more baggage.
Yes, older women often have more demands. They’re more jaded. They want men who are going to agree in advance to commitments and to sticking around. Having to double down on the unknown isn’t that sexy. Younger women, theoretically, are less grounded in life and more willing to try out all sorts of unusual adventures. Plus, all that innocence is sexy.
Despite all this, though, there are definitely men who get into older ladies. This could just be men who are willing to take a chance on a ravenous cougars they meet at the end of some sticky bar. It could be a mommy thing for some younger guys who had complex relationships with their mother and who need to work it out through relationships projected onto other women.
But this is only talking about older women, relative to the age of a younger man. A women in her 30s, or 40s is hardly past her prime.

To them the advanced condition of the body—emptied out breasts, deflated like balloons at a long passed birthday; folds of skin hanging down over the belly, last reminders of children birthed and raised in decades stretching back; white-plumed, dried folds of loose skin between her legs—is worth fantasizing about.
