Pegging for Beginners: Choosing Your Dildo

Dominatrix in Stud Bra

This week’s kinky confession addresses beginner pegging, a topic that I can really relate to. I love strapping on a big ol’ dildo and giving it to my partner up the ass!

“I Want to Be Pegged by a Dominant Woman”

“I never knew how much I wanted to be pegged by a dominant woman until my girlfriend and I were sharing a bathtub, and she suddenly poked her finger up my ass. She laughed and said, ‘You like it, don’t you?’ She kept wiggling her soap-sudsy finger in my butt, and I got a huge and helpless erection. I’ve fantasized about women wearing big, knobby strap-ons ever since.”

I’m so excited for our reader who is about to enter into the super-hot world of pegging!

If this sounds good to you, but you don’t have a pegging partner, see our article Pegging Dating Sites for Strapon Lovers.

Otherwise, you might already have a special someone who is more eager to peg you with a strapon dildo than you know. In this case, check out the 5 Signs She Might Want to Peg You.

Now, here are some tips on where to start when selecting your first tool for the job.

A Pegging Beginner’s Dildo: What to Consider

1. Strapon Dildo Size

It should come as no surprise that there are many sizes of pegging dildo to choose from. You might be tempted to start out big, with the knobbiest one you can find, but I caution you against that. If you’re new to anal, you’ll want to start off slow, choosing one that’s tapered and on the small side.

A finger or a tongue is a great place to start, and although the bathtub seems like the perfect place to do it—both from a cleanup and sexiness standpoint—you’ll want to keep the lube flowing. Therefore, it’s best to do your pegging on dry land.

2. Dildo Shape for Pegging

For pegging beginners, I mentioned the importance of a tapered dildo to start. I would also suggest you choose one that’s slightly curved, as this will not only suit the shape of your anatomy, but stimulate your prostate. The prostate is the g-spot for men and a big part of what makes anal sex so enjoyable.

Try a few different options, from curved to straight, smooth to textured, and see what you like. If you’re going to try something with big ridges, or bumps, stretch yourself out first with a smaller toy. Most harnesses are adjustable and will accommodate different types of dildos, so don’t be afraid to amass a collection.

3. Material of Dildo

A silicone dildo is the way to go for first-time pegging. It can be boiled easily to disinfect, it stands up well to water-based lubes and it’s more flexible than something like a glass dildo. Flexibility is super important, especially when you’re starting out. You want a dildo that’s going to adjust to your curves and be forgiving when it comes to positioning. Some silicone dildos are stiffer than others.

Read the reviews, especially if you’re buying online. If you can, buy your pegging dildo in store where you can handle the product and know exactly what you’re getting.

4. Pegging Safety

I alluded to this before, but don’t be stingy with the lube. Squeeze out as much as you think you might need, and then some. Keep applying as you play and be sure to speak up if things start to feel a little dry. Choose a dildo with a large base that can be easily held in a harness or a hand. Some come equipped with suction cups on the bottom that can make playing alone a little easier.

Finally, don’t share your pegging dildo unless it’s been well sanitized. Use a condom to make cleanup easier, but don’t forget to follow specific cleaning instructions for your particular toy.
