One explanation is simply that “leg fetishism” is very common, so common it’s not really a fetish. Female legs are a staple of fashion, rock ‘n’ roll, pin ups, burlesque, pole dancing, etc. They are ever present, and many people do not call their intense attraction to legs a fetish. But legs have many parts, and many people find themselves attracted more to a certain part—calves, thighs, ankles, and knees.

The big knee fetish is a bit of a mystery. It is best known from the account Big Knee Lover on Deviant Art. The artist claims to be “just some guy with a big knee fetish.” He posts anime characters with “knees squishy swollen and big.” These are exaggerated knee cartoons that look like balloons… or testicles? It’s been suggested that these are satirical, poking fun of random kinks. But the images attract tens of thousands of views!
