Puppy Play and the Human Pup Kink

Some interesting insight into the puppy kink and human pups.

There’s nothing I love more than sharing the ways in which people shake off social convention to manifest the truth of who they really are. We are all in need of lightening the social load and who could teach us more about shaking stuff off than a human pup?

All About Human Puppy Kink

Much of what I’m about to share with you comes from a documentary called, Secret Life of the Human Pups. It’s a BBC production that’s well worth the watch if you are at all curious.

Puppy Play Is a Stress Release

Lots of Human Puppies are employed in high-stress managerial positions. When they get home after a long day, they find it liberating to put on a puppy suit and just relax.

When they assume the role of a pup, they are no longer responsible for themselves or others. They’re free to play and nap and offer affection to their human “handlers” who pat them and tell them what a good dog they are.

Human Pup Is an Identity

For some with a pup kink, their doggy persona is part of who they are on a really deep level.

One man featured in the documentary talks about how he chose puppy life over marriage. He then shows us the ways in which his loved ones (his ex-fiancé and his friend/handler) support his lifestyle.

A lot of a human pup’s happiness depends on nurturing support. It’s more than just a game, but an expression of love for all involved.

Pup Kink Isn’t Necessarily Sexual

Lots of people assume that such expressions of love must eventually culminate in something sexual. Before I looked into it, I thought for sure that it was all about desire and the chance to really do it doggy style, but this isn’t the case.

Sometimes feelings do cross over and pups end up getting it on with their handlers, but a lot of the time puppy kink is platonic and more about the loyalty and nurturing side of things.

Pup Play Is an Opportunity for Sub and Dom Roleplay

With puppy kink there’s sometimes there is an element of submissiveness and domination that crosses over into the physical realm, and I guess that’s to be expected.

Dogs, though man’s best friend, are not considered man’s equal and this power discrepancy lends itself to a kind of kinky roleplaying that some human pups enjoy.

Puppy Roleplay is a Way of Coping with Social Anxiety

A few of the pups in the video talk about how much easier it is to communicate while in puppy mode as compared to when they are out in the world as humans. There’s a simplicity that comes with behaving like a dog.

Emotions can be expressed more directly and with less complexity, and fewer things are expected in exchange for fun and play.
