The Japanese word “omorashi” simply means “wetting yourself.” Omo lovers experience sexual arousal from the experience of watching someone wet their pants, or being the wetter. Because of Japanese censorship laws against public hair, penetration, and other staples of pornography, erotica has often taken a comic-book turn, and omorashi, or wetting fetish, is no exception.
Instead of photographic depictions of naked people fucking, erotic anime and cute, playfully sexual commodities have widespread popularity.
Omorashi in Japan is as much about clothing as it is about urination—panties, diapers, skirts, and uniforms are very important. Wetting them, or wearing them while doing the wetting, is part of the thrill. Omorashi is considered a kind of garment fetishism.
Many Japanese kinks are also heavily dependent not just on comic books and figurines, but also on video games. Eroge means “erotic game” and feature various kinks as video games. Omorashi games are very popular.
Fetish films for omorashi are less like our pornography and more like game shows! Desperation Tournament, for example, features contestants competing in various challenges to hold their urine.
Omorashi Fetish Variations
Yagai means wetting yourself outdoors or in public.
Yagai honyo get a kick out of pissing outdoors or in public without getting caught.
Omutsu play means the participants want to wear or see diapers when the wetting takes place.
Wearing and wetting diapers is an oddly broad phenomenon in Japan. Diapers are popular and necessary because many folks in Japan live to be very old and the aging population is encouraged to use diapers for personal comfort. Young women have been buying diapers in order to avoid using public bathrooms. This uptick in a commodity has led to an increase in diaper wetting as a kink.
Skirt omorashi or sukāto omorashi is dependent on the skirt during the wetting. The upskirt view of the urination is the thrill.
While omorashi definitely shares some aspects of titillation with golden shower fetishists—the sexual excitement from urination—it is also quite different.
Omo depends on the element of desperation, losing control, and wetting yourself or witnessing another wet him or herself. It isn’t about being urinated on or over, and is not as frequently connected to a dominant-submissive or BDSM scenario. Wetting fetishists may of course enjoy all kinds of other kinks, but many are more concerned with gaming, collecting, and comics. It’s a cultural phenomenon and kink all rolled into one.
My favorite part of omorashi is the cutesy collectables—little anime-style figurines of giant-eyed maids and schoolgirls with plastic urine streaming down their legs.
Omorashi collectables are just part of a whole omorashi subculture born in Japan. Part kink, part cartoon, part cultural craze, and part video game, the “omo” world might not see itself the way we do. We have all kinds of golden shower, urophagia, water sports fetishes, and consider the bladder-control kink part of that world. Omorashi enthusiasts, however, are more into manga than BDSM or even full nudity.
