Erotic literature is big business. It always has been but when 50 Shades of Grey came out, it exploded with every one trying to duplicate its success. It’s not like naughty stories haven’t been told for centuries, but something in the collective conscious must have said we’re ready for a little more raunch.
I’ve always preferred reading a steamy sex passage in a book to watching a gangbang on a laptop. Why? Because reading to visualize what is not said, and I can put myself into a character’s place. So much of fantasizing is about using our imagination. The majority of erotica readers are women, but did you know that men dominate the field of erotic authors (of course, most use pseudonyms).
You don’t have to be a famous author to write titillating tales for your lover. All you need is your fantasies and imagination, and a little experience of your own never hurts. If you’re inhibited in sharing your fantasies, this is a great way to express your desires in a way that will impress any gal and possibly get those fantasies fulfilled.
How to start? Don’t worry about structure, punctuation, and spelling, or even if it makes sense as you sit down to write. Just let your thoughts and ideas pour out onto the page (or computer). It may take a few rough drafts to get your writing juices flowing; this is no different from seasoned pros. You can write about unfulfilled desires or a story about a hot experience you’ve already had with your lover. And don’t worry about it being perfect; sex certainly isn’t!
When you’ve turned out something you’re happy with, you can go back and edit, fill in some blanks, and give it as much polish as you want. And you don’t have to share this with your lover, but I encourage it. Either send it to her through snail mail or leave it somewhere to find – she’ll be aroused before your next tryst, giving her time to think about making your wish come true. Or you can read her your story before your next sexual encounter. You’ll be able to see her in-the-moment reaction to your fantasies.
Are you ready? Think you can write a little erotica for your lover? You can also send us your stories here at Kink Lovers for our Kinky Confessions blog series. We’d love to read and publish your fantasies.
