Cure For the Winter Cold: Netflix and Chill

With another month of winter to get through, why not get your kink on and cozy up at the same time! Here are a few sexy movies on Netflix to curl up with, or handcuffed to, your beautiful babe.

Lovesick

There’s nothing overly kinky in this sitcom, but it’s loveable, funny and sexy while nailing the emotional undercurrents of twenty-something love connections. A promiscuous young man who is gorgeous, but not the brightest crayon in the box, finds out he has chlamydia and is instructed to inform all his partners he has been infected.

This storyline sounds like a death-toll bell from the start, but it’s not—the viewer quickly becomes engaged with the characters and their foibles of love and sex.

Gerald’s Game

This Netflix adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same title is far more successful than most attempts to turn the literary horror master into cinema. It’s a riveting film from start to finish if you can take all the kinky pathology with a grain of salt.

A couple tries to spice things up with handcuffs and Viagra. Gerald has a heart attack while his wife is chained to the bed in a remote cottage, and what follows is her descent into hell as she recalls forgotten incestuous abuse and other monsters.

Stuart Blumberg’s 2012 dramedy stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Pink, Tim Robbins, and Mark Ruffalo. This movie attempts a lighthearted take on sex addiction, but its very effort to be breezy and humorous instead of serious comes off a bit heavy handed and moralizing.

The film’s goal seems to be all about humanizing the sex addict and touting the benefits of the 12-step program, but instead of trying to layer complex psychological insights onto the subject, it should have just focused on the corny fun of people dating when they’re trying to avoid sex.

The Little Death

This quirky, provocative Australian gem is a total delight, with well-measured humor, intelligence and depth. It takes a look behind the scenes to uncover how ordinary seeming people all have their thing—curious kinks and sexual compulsions. Some add spice, while others trigger downfalls and despair.

Even though I give this film five stars for its originality, pacing, laugh-out-loud quality, and great writing, I still cringe a little at the dacryphilia storyline. I probably just don’t understand this particular kink (being sexually aroused by someone crying) but I don’t think the filmmakers did either.

Fifty Shades of Grey

You’ll have to look further than Netflix, but trust me, your girlfriend really does want to watch this for the fourth time. The 2015 BDSM blockbuster raked in over half a billion dollars even with scathing reviews.

A guy can learn a few things from the book and movie, despite a lengthy litany of flaws in both. You don’t have to be rich and gorgeous like Christian Grey, who is nothing but pure fantasy, just pay attention to how this guy pays attention to his woman. A woman who feels this attended to will find herself totally open to exploring her deepest, darkest sexual desires.
