Beyond Human: Fetish Outside the Human Paradigm

Human sexuality is truly an expansive, creative maze of connections and attractions.

While today we understand that sexuality is not simply a means of procreation, and that same sex, group sex, solo sex, older sex, kinky sex, and virtual sex are all beautiful, we still generalize that sex is between people—but that is not always the case!

9 Non-Human Fetishes

Here are several kinks and fetishes that go beyond human.

1. Statue Fetish: Agalmatophilia

Once upon a time, we saw the sex doll as a cure for lonely losers who couldn’t find a girlfriend. Today’s sex dolls are lifelike and hot, and are popular with businessmen with no time on their hands. They are also popular because it’s safe sex, and for some, because they doesn’t come with divorce costs or the real-life needs of a woman.

Some folks are also attracted to statues, sculptures, and mannequins.

2. Extraterrestrial Fetish: Exophilia

Do you find yourself turned on by extraterrestrial, robotic, supernatural, or otherwise non-human life forms. Most folks who love aliens of all kinds have to make do with people in cosplay or inanimate dolls. There is also the ovipositor, a sex toy that imagines an alien penis planting an egg inside of you.

For those of us who truly believe in extraterrestrials, this fascination can be turned into otherworldly role plays.

 3. Machine Fetish: Mechanophilia

Mechanophiliacs REALLY love their cars.

Although cars are often considered a turn on or sexy accessory, for car kinksters, the car is everything. Some get aroused by the scent of rubber or vinyl or petrol. Some are aroused specifically by car crashes.

Next time a woman asks to get it on in her car, you may wonder if she’s a mechanophiliac.

4. Tree Fetish: Dendrophilia

Dendrophiliacs take being a “tree hugger” to the next level. Some report sexual arousal to specific trees and even falling in love. She may just be a nature-loving hippie, or there may be more than meets the eye!

5. Insect Fetish: Formicophilia

The feeling of being ravaged by termites or roaches is a side effect of some drugs like stimulants that most of us want to avoid. But some people experience sexual arousal at being covered in bugs, consumed by them, or feeling worms or insects crawl around or in their genitals.

6. Gun Fetish: Hoplophilia

Love of guns and weapons isn’t just a stereotype of Texas or the Old West, or even a form of protection. It can also be an actual kink and part of BDSM play. Some women (and men) even want to be penetrated by guns. Some find caressing it or using it to be arousing.

Like something else, they come in all shapes and sizes, so there’s something for everyone who has this fetish.

7. Object Fetish: Objectophilia

Objectophiliacs have a strong sexual and romantic attraction to objects and buildings such as bridges, fences, skyscrapers, chairs, and even pizza.

This fetish has recently come into the spotlight because advocates want it considered as an orientation, not a kink, called OS, or object sexuality.

Some high-profile marriages have taken place: someone married a stone bridge, and someone married the Eiffel Tower. A man was refused permission to marry his computer. For many objectophiles, it isn’t just sex—they feel an emotional connection and romantic love for their partner. It’s not just any old bridge!

8. Disaster Fetish: Symphorophilia

We are all drawn to disasters. But for symphorophiliacs, it is so sexually arousing that they may create a catastrophe themselves.

Disasters can be a car crash, house on fire, terrorist attack, home invasion, flood, volcanic eruption, and other natural—and not so natural—disasters.

9. Ugly Fetish: Teratophilia

Teratophilia refers to the love of “ugly” or disfigured people, and hence is not in popular usage because it is demeaning to people.

But it also refers to the love of actual monsters, the ones that are products of the imagination, like King Kong, Nessie, Quasimodo, Frankenstein, and any number of B-movie characters. For some, there is an overlap. Think of the popularity of the film The Shape of Water, where a woman fell in love with a fish-man.
