BDSM is getting more and more airplay on television these days, and frankly, we love it. It’s always nice to get titillated by bondage during prime time TV, and not that awful “movie bondage” that is sometimes seen, where you think, “They could so get out of that in a second!” Here’s a few shows to pique your interest…
American Horror Story
Now in its fourth season, AHS is a unique show that delicately balances a spooky storyline with some saucy elements. Each season has some of the same actors, but a completely different storyline and cast of characters. In Season One, which was based around an innocent family who moved into a seriously haunted house, the new tenants cannot seem to rid themselves of a rubber cat suit that seems to show up in the strangest of places. Another character, who is a ghost in present day, previously bought the suit in a kinky BDSM shop to try and spice up his sex life with his gay partner.
Season Two, “Asylum”, dealt partially with a possessed nun who eschewed her heavenly commitments. As she became more and more evil, she became prone to caning her charges, and walking around the asylum in a red slip and her habit’s head piece. A sexy combination for sure!
The Secret Lives of Women
This reality show is on WEtv, a women’s entertainment channel. Already in it’s fifth season, SLW exposes various subcultures of women in the United States. Exhibitionists, swingers, and fetishists are only a few. One episode featured Alene, who is in a strict dom/sub, polyamorous BDSM relationship. Alene’s courage in sharing her experiences with the world is very inspiring.
Reality TV is more popular than ever, with some programs putting a focus on the freakier things in life. “I love shows that portray real people in real BDSM relationships,” says Eva Rice, a member coordinator at BDSMdate.com.“Whenever a new television series comes out with fresh BSDM content, we see a spike in membership.”
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty
While this show is not out yet, it’s going into production soon. Televisa U.S.A. recently purchased the rights to The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Anne Rice. These novels revolve around Beauty and are set in a medieval fantasy world. There are several male protagonists that join Beauty in BDSM scenarios that include maledom, femdom, bisexuality, and pony play. We’ll be sure to let our readers know when this one hits the small screen.
