Dendrophilia: Tree Love, Tree Fetish, Tree Sex, and Related Kinks

Trees are beautiful. Most of us feel incredible awe, comfort, joy, and hope when we see trees. Trees mark the seasons for us, with the blossoms of spring, the greening of summer, the fire of fall, and the barren branches of winter each symbolizing the cycles of nature.

Some of us experience another kind of attraction to trees. Dendrophilia is the word for what those of who really love tree experiences.

What Is Dendrophilia?

Dendrophilia simply means “love of trees.” It’s the word we use to describe a tree fetish. Some people experience a deep love for trees that plays out with feelings of sexual excitement, psychological satisfaction, and emotional connection.

They feel sexually aroused by trees. They may desire to touch trees, kiss and stroke them, or be naked with trees.

Dendrophilia often plays out in a more emotional way, with someone feeling deep love and nurture and reverence for trees. But some people also experience sexual arousal and desire.

“Tree huggers” may deeply enjoy contact with trees or being in their presence. They may express love for the trees or talk to them. And some do want to make love with trees overhead or nearby because it increases their sexual arousal. Others feel intense sexual connection to trees and want to make love or be sexual with the tree.

Trees have a powerful presence and this is arousing for some people with dendrophilia. Others experience the transformation fetish in the way trees change with the seasons. Some see the tree as symbolic of the phallus, or of fertility.

Some fetishists experience macrophilia or microphilia in relationship to the tree. Some people have objectophilia, and feel emotional connections to particular objects, which might be a tree or might be a bridge. Others enjoy a sexual relationship with ecology or nature in general.

Some people with dendrophilia don’t really have a tree fetish per se, but see trees along with mountains, rivers, flowers, and more as an aspect of Mother Nature or the earth as a lover.

While there isn’t a whole lot of research on dendrophilia, many people experience some level of attraction or excitement to or from trees.

Examples of Dendrophilia

Tree Love

For some people, dendrophilia manifests as a bona fide tree fetish. They feel an intense sexual attraction and romantic or emotional attraction to trees, or to a particular tree, or to certain kinds of trees.

They may anthropomorphize their tree of choice, name it, and give it humanlike qualities and characteristics. They may feel sexual excitement or sexual pleasure when they see the tree, touch the tree, or imagine the tree.

Tree Worship

People do literally worship trees for sacred reasons, something more common in the past in times of pagan beliefs rather than monotheism. Gods or spirits animated countless things, and trees, rivers, and rain were just a few of the natural world’s gods.

Tree worship can be part of a tree fetish, too, the way we also indulge in cock worship, foot worship, or goddess worship. Many people find sexual pleasure and fulfillment in worshipping the object of their desire, and some with dendrophilia like to express their love of trees in this way.

Tree worship might mean tree gazing, tree caressing, watering the tree, removing problematic branches, caring for any wounds on the tree, singing or praying to the tree.

Coming on Trees

The moment of ejaculation can be a powerfully arousing experience for both the one ejaculating and his partners.

Many men have a stronger orgasm just by imagining—or acting out—ejaculation on a partner’s face, breasts, cock, or ass, or simply by the idea of the ejaculation spraying into the air. It is no different with dendrophilia. Some tree lovers get very excited by ejaculating onto the tree.

Fucking Trees

Dendrophilia can mean a desire for actual tree fucking. While this can be difficult to enact, with a little imagination there are ways to make it work.

Getting naked and rubbing against the tree is one way, although the textures can be painful or rough and that’s not everyone’s cup of, er, tree. Some women with dendrophilia simply straddle a smooth and heavy branch and rub against it, the way we hump and grind against pillows or furniture or a human lover’s body.

Others sit in the tree and sense the flutter of leaves and other sexual dances within the tree’s body—the shoots, the phallic branches, the receiving of the sun. Tree fucking can mean using the branches or leaves to masturbate with. Explore and experiment to find what works for you.

Kinks Related to Dendrophilia

Ecosexuality

Ecosexuality is a sexual orientation and philosophy that views the earth as a lover rather than a mother, and manifests as erotic love of nature. Ecosexuals love the earth, mountains, volcanos, lakes, flowers, rivers, the night sky, and trees, and everything else in nature. Dendrophilia can be part of ecosexuality.

Xylophilia (Wood Fetish)

Some people with dendrophilia are sexually attracted to trees not because it’s a tree but because it is wood. Xylophilia is a wood fetish. People with xylophilia may find the look, smell, and feeling of wood sexually arousing.

Ylophilia (Forest Fetish)

For some, dendrophilia is too limiting. They experience attraction and connection sexually to whole forests.

Objectophilia

Objectophilia is a sexual attraction towards objects and structures. People with objectophilia may be sexually attracted to and feel emotional connections with bridges, roads, trains, chandeliers, or pizza.

Objectophiles often feel the attraction to a very specific object. In other words, it isn’t trains in general, but a specific train that parks near their home. There have been stories of marriages and divorces with towers, cars, and light fixtures.

Dendrophilia can be a form of objectophilia, even though a tree is a living plant. The attraction is to a certain tree because the objectophile feels an emotional relationship with it that makes it sexually attractive. It isn’t about trees in general or the idea of a tree, but about a connection to a particular tree.

Tree Bondage

BDSM lovers may find that a tree is a perfect tool for bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism kinks. Being tied to a tree, in a tree, or suspended from a tree can be practical as well as exciting because it brings in elements like feeling exposed.

Primal kink lovers don’t see plastic sex toys or new fetish gear as particularly “primal” and though they may enjoy BDSM, they prefer natural and primal ways to express themselves. Hunting and chasing, and using trees as part of bondage rituals, makes sense in this context.

People who are ecosexuals and also into BDSM will find being tied to a tree an amazing way to express their kinks. For people with dendrophilia, the tree they are tied to IS their lover.
