Do you have a fat fetish? Do you love a little extra on your lover?
Fat fetishes are very common and always have been, and are more visible as fashion, media, and society become more open to a variety of bodies and definitions of beauty.
There are quite a few euphemisms for fat folks in a sexy context: BBW, voluptuous, curvy, queen, Rubenesque, zaftig (Yiddish for juicy!), big bear, and the list goes on.
My personal favorite is “chubby” or “chubblicious” because it can be for any gender and covers all the sizes.
“Fat” itself is a word we seldom used except as an insult, but the body positivity and fat acceptance movements have helped change it from a dirty word to a practical one.

What Is Lipophilia? What Is Adipophilia?
Fat fetishes are sometimes called by the more clinical sounding terms “lipophilia” and “adipophilia” which both mean, not surprisingly, “love of fat.”
Other terms that are sometimes used are “chubby chasers” and “fat admirers.” These may be somewhat outdated. Generally, anything with “chasers” is more often used to denigrate someone who objectifies another person with their fetish.
Someone who objectifies and takes sexual gratification from a fat person, for example, but who won’t consider dating them or introducing them to friends, might be derogatively referred to as a chubby chaser.
Some people say “fat attracted” as well.

Do All Fat-Attracted Folks Have a Fat Fetish?
Not everyone who finds fat people attractive has a fat fetish. Many people enjoy variety or they are realistic about the range of bodies that people have. Some don’t have a preference for slim or fit and find fat people just as attractive as lovers but don’t have a “thing” for it.
Lots of people are looking for other qualities in lovers and may be fat-attracted if the person has those other characteristics. Some people have a definite “thing” or preference for fat people but enjoy others too, or don’t identify it as a fetish, just as some people who particularly love redheads or Latino lovers don’t define their tastes that way.

Why Do Some People Have Fat Fetishes?
We are still learning about fetishes and why people have them. There is no single reason that people have fetishes, but a complex array of reasons or causes for fat fetishes and other kinks. Some are simple preferences, the same way we might prefer chocolate ice cream or mango sherbet.
Some reasons for having a fetish are cultural or social. Some are rooted in evolutionary reasons and our biology. Some are experiential. Some are creative ways of dealing with or processing trauma or other intense events or personal dynamics. For example, someone might have violent fantasies because they were a victim of violation. Someone else might have a thing for someone of another race to rebel against their family’s taboos on interracial dating.

Some fetishes, including fat fetishes, are what is called “imprinting”—if we experience sexual excitement or awakening around a particular trigger, it can stay embedded in our psyche. For example, if your first object of desire happens to be chubby, that can stay with you, just as noticing a beloved teacher’s feet and sandals during puberty can bring on a foot fetish.
For some people, fat fetishes are about transformation and they particularly find erotic the idea of a body changing from one state to another over time. For others, it is about the contrasting novelty. The thin man and fat woman were a staple of many “freak circuses” of old, which were objectionable practices that nevertheless revealed many truths about human beings.
Perhaps the most common reason someone has a fetish is “we don’t know.” While many of us can remember an experience or situation that contributed to our fetish, the vast majority of us have no idea how we got our sexual kinks.

The Fattening Room
While fetishes are strong personal interests or attractions that are sexual in nature, cultures have similar passions that many members of the group share.
Unusual customs or cultural dances or arts are practically the definition of “culture,” but some of these interests do have a sexual nature. Think about sexual taboos or wedding customs around the world and you see a variety of fetish-like practices and interests that are cultural and not specifically personal.
While many cultures demean fat as a quality of laziness, poor health, or a lack of discipline, many cultures prize fat as a symbol of fertility, status, wealth, and desirability.
In Nigeria, there is a now-controversial practice called “the fattening room.” The Efik people traditionally fed eligible daughters huge amounts of food to fatten them up before marriage, so that they would be pleasingly rotund for their grooms.

14 Fat Fetishes to Embrace
1. BBW Love
Some people are simply more attracted to fat people. The term BBW means big, beautiful woman, and it was originally the name of a magazine for plus-sized women. The acronym became widely used in personal ads and in escort ads.
People with a fat fetish are especially attracted to people with extra flesh on their bodies.
Fetishists may enjoy the look or feel of it. They may enjoy particular aspects, such as the love handle grab or the soft belly or fleshy pussy lips. They may have a strong preference for a specific body type: love “pleasantly plump” or “a bit of extra flesh on the bones.” Some prefer people who are extremely fat.

2. BBM or BHM
Not surprisingly, most people with a fat fetish are men, even though many women enjoy fat lovers or are willing to date fat men.
Guys are more likely to have a “thing” for fat people, whether it is men who love BBW or gay men who love BBM or BHM—big beautiful men or big handsome men. Some women do have a fat fetish and also look specifically for BBM.

3. Transformation Fetishes
Fat fetishism can be a kind of transformation fetish, and for some people, hearing about how someone gained weight or comparing images of before and after are the source of excitement. The change itself is important to their fat fetish.

4. Feeder and Gainer Fetish
The feeder and gainer fetish is when someone derives erotic pleasure from feeding someone and fattening them up.
The gainer or feedee may derive erotic pleasure from being fed. While most of us find the act of eating potentially sensual and may enjoy feeding each other on occasion, in the context of fat fetishism, it is usually about huge sums of food with the goal of the feedee gaining extreme amounts of weight, not about dangling a few grapes or a forkful or lemon risotto.

5. Fat Fetish as Hardcore BDSM
Not all feeder and gainer fetishists are motivated by BDSM or into sadism or masochism, but feeder relationships are often related to or about hardcore dominance and submission.
It may look very different from classic BDSM but for some, the thrill in this fat fetish is humiliation and complete dependence. Many gainers are made so obese that they cannot move or take care of themselves, and the degradation is part of it for both dominant and submissive.

6. Hogging
This is not really a fat fetish since technically, fetishes and kinks in the kinky and BDSM community are defined as consensual and honest. Hogging is a despicable practice of preying on fat girls who may have low self-esteem or may simply be flattered by sexual attention or believe they are being pursued.
Some men pretend to be interesting in a fat girl, then “hook up” with them, humiliating them afterwards by letting them know it was a trick. This cruel practice is known as hogging.
7. Body Swap Fetish
Some people are sexually turned on by the idea of changing bodies with someone else’s, or by imagining that happening to someone else. They may find themselves unexpectedly turned on by movies that have a body swap theme.
Common ways to body swap include gender swapping through role play. The idea of swapping bodies with a fat person is a fat fetish that manifests from body swap fetishes.

8. Food Fetishes
Fat fetishes might overlap with food fetishes, such as the feeding and gaining fetish, but also with cake sploshing fetishes or wet and messy fetishes.

11. Belly Inflation
Belly inflation fetishes are not always a fat fetish, but sometimes the most practical way to witness a belly inflating is through eating and through eating over time.

12. Chubby Culture
Chubby love is a full-blown subculture just as leather is in gay culture. “Chubs” are fat gay men, and there are many groups and communities such as Girth and Mirth that celebrate fat men.
13. Macrophilia
The giant fetish is about the fantasy of a giant and is usually explored through film, literature, or graphic novels and manga or anime. While most fantasize simply about someone being bigger, for some this includes being fatter.

14. Fat Worship
Just as there is foot worship, cock worship, ass worship, pussy worship, breast worship, or general worship of the person or body, fat worship is one way to express a fat fetish or to explore dominance and submission in a fat fetish context. Fat worship includes gazing, kneeling, caressing, kissing, and praising.
