Chair Bondage Ideas and Positions

Chair bondage offers many different variations in how someone is restrained to a chair and what the Dom or Domme may do to their sub who is bound.

Most people can enjoy chair bondage without having to spend money on specially designed BDSM furniture or restraints, but you can always add to the pleasure and pain with extras like sex toys and kinky gear.

3 Chair Bondage Positions

1. Classic Chair Bondage Position

In the classic chair bondage position, a sturdy four-legged chair is most often used—think dining room chair with a tall upright back and extended arms. A low-sitting velour lounge chair just won’t do.

The submissive or switch will sit properly in the chair, and the dominant will restrain their ankles to the two forefront legs of the chair, so their legs are parted—the chair size will determine how far apart. The bound person’s arms sit on the chair’s armrests with their wrist tied to the rests.

In a chair without armrests, the wrists may be tied behind the back or pulled straight and tied to the front or back legs of the chair.

Depending on the back of the chair there may be an opening in the upper backrest to tie the sub’s neck to. This will keep the sub firmly in place for all kinds of kinky fun.

Also, the chair you use may be part of the aesthetic, so if you want the sexy red velvet chair as part of your scene, be creative in what you use for restraints and how you tie your sub to the chair.

2. Reverse Chair Bondage Position

The reverse chair bondage position is just as it sounds. You’ll want a similar style chair used for classic chair bondage, but without the high backrest—think kitchen table chair.

The sub’s legs can be at a right angle to tie their ankles to the back legs, or they can be bent at a forty-five degree ankle to tie the ankles to the front legs while they face backwards.

Their wrists can be tied together around the back of the chair or behind their own back, or even to the chair’s back if possible.

3. Bent Over Chair Bondage Position

Bent over chair bondage is by far the least comfortable of the chair bondage positions.

With a chair that has no back, the sub may be draped over the base with wrists and ankles tied on either side, close to the floor. If the chair has a back, they may be kneeling or sitting on their knees facing the chair’s back with ankles restrained and wrists either tied together around the chair’s back or behind their own back or even neck.

How you want to position a person bent over will depend on comfortability, how you plan to play in this bondage position, as well as the chair itself—what you can and can’t do.

Like so much BDSM, it’s about exploration, creativity and imagination.

5 Chair Bondage Ideas

With a submissive bound to a chair, there are so many BDSM practices you can choose from, from kink lite to hardcore. Your BDSM relationship and experience will dictate how far you want to go.

1. Chair Bondage Roleplay

Chair bondage lends itself to so many kinds of role play. You can imagine a police interrogation or prisoner scenario quite easily, or re-enact a home invasion that includes the restraining part of the play.

You can add a blindfold for sensory deprivation that will really elevate the levels of anticipatory arousal. Want more domination? Add a hood and ball gag if you want a roleplay that has a total exchange of power.

2. Sensation Play

Bondage of any kind, including chair bondage, is perfect for sensation play. Tying a partner to a chair may seem hardcore to some, but if it’s just about keeping your lover in place while you tickle and tantalize them through sensory play, it’s excellent for vanilla folks or those just starting to explore BDSM.

Go through your home to find objects with different textures, temperatures, sounds, and tastes. The sky’s the limit with what you can surprise your partner with. Add a blindfold to ratchet things up. This chair bondage play can be non-penetrative or used strictly as foreplay.

3. Orgasm Edging

Orgasm edging is another kink that is fun and accessible for all couples who want a bigger and better orgasm (unless orgasm denial is part of the play).

While most couple practice some form of edging in bed, adding chair bondage creates a power dynamic with the helplessness involved. Who doesn’t want their partner to beg to be fucked or penetrated because they are so close to orgasm. It’s hot. It’s sexy.

4. Forced Orgasms

On the flipside of orgasm edging, there is forced orgasm which is also better when chair bondage is involved.

Forcing a woman to orgasm while helplessly restrained may involve a vibrating dildo or magic wand that you control. You may be forcing her to have several orgasms while she is tied to a chair. There may be a fuck machine involved, so you can be hands free to touch other parts of her body.

If the woman is in charge, the man’s forced orgasm may be about timing and sex toys or devices used. It may include post-orgasm torture.

Of course in any BDSM practice, consent must be there before play begins.

5. Impact Play

Chair bondage is perfect for all kinds of impact play, especially the reverse position or over the chair position. So much impact play involves exposed buttocks, so have them visible and ready!
